Double Berry Protein Smoothie

Double Berry Protein Smoothie

For a little fun I decided to use the dictation option on my Mac from the new operating system upgrade.  It's a little hilarious what it thinks I'm saying sometimes though I decided that other than punctuation I'm going to make no corrections.  I hope you have a little bit of a laugh at my poor sentence structure and it will giggle out of the oddness of this.  That's enough about my electronic experiment let's move on to mine. The experience (Okay, not really all that close lol!...what I said was let's move on to my berry experiment).

I adapted this recipe from the gracious pantry.  Please visit the gracious entries website to see the original ingredients and rest.  Okay I officially give up on the dictation experiment a test.  AHHHH.  Okay, I give up on the dictation experiment lol.

Anyway!  Please visit The Gracious Pantry for the original recipe.

Ingredients: (2 Servings)

  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Lactaid Whole Milk
  • 1 scoop Gold Standard Strawberry flavored Whey protein
Directions: (takes approximately 3-5 minutes)
  • Take all the above ingredients, add to blender and then serve!
This was very refreshing and yummy.  It was smooth and creamy, a little sweet but not too much so.  The one annoyance was that the chia seeds get a little caught up in your teeth but it's not horrific.

I will be adding this recipe to the recipe list at: My Fitness Pal.  You can use this either on the internet or as an app on your phone.  Using this app I have shed 5lbs!  Wedding dress here I come!  Also it helped me to estimate the calories of this little smoothie.  To the best of my ability I believe the calorie intake for 1 serving of this recipe is: 237!  Not bad at all!!!!  I'm drinking this before a night of work for a little energy boost.

Now I will have you know that I did make a movie to go with this but in the recording my lips and my voice don't match up!!!  If there is anyone out there with advice on how to avoid this or fix it...help me.

  1. Sarah,

How interesting that I have been making a similar smoothie these days. I use almond milk for mine (which is supposed to be really good for you) and I add ground flax seed along with the chia seeds.

I alternate the fruit. Sometimes I use fresh pineapple or bananas. I do use frozen blueberries too.

    Here's to yummy protein smoothies!

    Hugs,
    Sally

    1. Those sound like great suggestions! I will have to try them. I didn't use almond milk because we already had lactaid in the fridge but I will probably try it in the future!

Can't wait for you to come visit!
